knows and loves the One

faith is intelligent trust

"Trust is what the writer of the Hebrews meant by the evidence of things not seen. Trust has the effect of proving the invisible. It makes us put confidence in the declaration and venture trustingly upon the suggestiveness of the promise. The result is an assurance of things hoped for. Trust is a risk, a venture, an adventure. It has in it an element of inspiration. It is not blind, blundering chance. Faith, after all, is not ignorant assumption--the right name for that is superstition. Faith is intelligent trust."

trust turns conviction into faith

"It is trust which turns conviction into faith. It is one thing to declare that a rope is strong; it is another thing to rest your weight upon it. Conviction is essential but it is not the whole story. It is one thing to believe the thing to act upon it. Trust is faith in action. Faith sometimes is a theological expression, but in its development it becomes highly personal. Faith is the conviction that God is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. The declaration without the diligence is on the way to being only half true, perhaps even half false on the lips of the one who confesses but will not trust."

it is necessary to exercise faith continually

"Belief would be compelled, and God has no use for a mechanical obedience; He calls for that which is worked out in struggle against the natural desires of men. He has wrapped up His revelation in such a way that it is necessary to exercise faith continually; and faith is not attained except by this same struggle. We have continually to insist upon this fact because of that which would pull us down. We have to maintain a faith that looks past the immediate appearance and presses upwards as the tree towards the light."

"As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving." {Colossians 2:6-7} (NKJV)

"Faithfulness means being very careful about your promises and about your relationship with others. It means to be ready to give up your own special preferences, your own scruples, your own strong opinions, if they may hinder your brother or sister or cause them to sin."

"Faithfulness has to do with integrity. It is another word for fidelity. It means being faithful to your word: true to your accepted responsibility, whether in business, in marriage, in the ecclesia. It outlaws the thought of shirking or shedding your duty, be the reason ever so plausible."

"Contentment and hopefullness recognizes God's sovereign hand in every situation. We must have faith-birthed optimism that looks to God. We must make sure our attitude is more aware of and grateful for the evidence of God's grace. We must remain confident in God's faithfulness."

a necessary element

"Next to the reading of the Word, and accompanying it, is the necessity of prayer. If the daily reading of the Word is a necessary element in the preparation of the heart, and in equipping us for the battle of life--the good fight of faith--prayer also, not only daily, but hourly must characterize the true and faithful follower of Christ."

seek out wisdom

"If we are honest hearted, or at least striving with all our might to be honest-hearted--and this should be absolutely fundamental with any claiming to be a brother or sister of Christ--then the greatest thing we need, and what we should most pray for--is to SEE the right way in any circumstance, condition, doctrine or issue."

Always There

"When I'm less than I should be
And I just can't face the day
When darkness falls around me
And I just can't find my way
When my eyes don't clearly see
And I stumble through it all
You I lean upon, You keep me strong

You are there when I most need You
You are there so constantly
You come shining through, You always do
You are always there for me

When life brings me to my knees
When my back's against the wall
You are standing there right with me
Just to keep me standing tall
Though a burden I may be
You don't weary, You don't rest
You are reaching out to carry me
And I know I'm very blessed

There when I most need You
There so constantly
You come shining through, You always do
You are always there for me"

"The more we understand of what we profess to believe, the stronger our faith therein; and nearer we approach its development, the more necessary it is that a lively interest be kindled in us, that our lamps be well-trimmed, and our lamps be found brightly burning."

the position I am in now

"The position I am in now: It is the one appointed: it is the one needed: I will resign myself to it: I will grapple with its difficulties, and bear its burdens, and endure its temptations--in all things and at all times, casting my care upon God, invoking His help in all my feeble efforts to faithfully fulfill the part assigned to me in this present mortal scheme."
